Carlilse & District u3a has been a member of the Third Age Trust since 1995, which is the national body looking after all u3as in the United Kingdom, providing administrative, legal and group activity support.
Our members are spread throughout north Cumbria and southern Scotland, the hands on the map to the right show where some of our most far flung members live.
Carlisle & District u3a operates as a charity and is "governed" by a committee of members (Trustees) voted in at each AGM. Oversight of our u3a is currently carried out by eight Trustees with individual group leaders managing their own groups. Details of Trustees can be found here.
The Trustees welcome any expression of interest from any member in joining them.

Activities
We have over 50 interest and activity groups, covering subjects from art to writing for pleasure and are always happy to assist anyone who has an interest they would like to explore. More in information on our groups can be found here.
We also hold an open monthly meeting, aptly named as Third Thursday Together, as that is when it takes place. We usually have a "guest talk" followed by light refreshments.
Some of our members meet for Coffee on the first Monday in each month, all are welcome.
Please see our Events page for more information.
Costs
Our membership year runs from 1st September to 31st August and costs £12 per year. This includes our own quarterly newsletter and a nationwide u3a magazine.
Some of our individual groups charge for their individual expenses which may include room hire, refreshments and equipment.
