Third Age Trust (TAT)
Being part of Carlisle & District u3a also brings the advantages of being a member of the Third Age Trust (TAT), providing a wealth of information and support for its members. These include operational support to individual u3as (eg legal advice, running a charity, using Beacon as an administrative tool, Siteworks for maintaining a website); to Group Leaders with Subject Advice on running and setting up interest groups; and ordinary members with events and activities that are open to all on a first come first served basis. Members also receive a bi-monthly magazine (optional) “u3a Matters” at no extra cost.

North West Region
The North West Region of u3as includes the counties of Cheshire, Cumbria, and Lancashire plus the Metropolitan Boroughs within Greater Manchester and Merseyside and all contiguous Unitary Authorities. It is a very diverse and exciting region, including seaside resorts, rural farming villages and large metropolitan areas. There are currently 100 u3as with around 43,000 members in this region. Again there is support given to individual u3as and events/workshops offered to members, often free of charge or for a nominal fee.
