We are an established group of happy strummers. Beginners are welcome. If you have a desire to learn to play this delightful little instrument come along and join us - progress as fast or as slowly as you want. No musical skills or knowledge are required and you don’t need a uke (one will be provided). If you’re not sure just turn up and sit and listen, you will certainly enjoy the music.

Frances has completed and passed an online ukulele teacher certification course, the only one in existence and is qualified to teach in schools, this augments her music qualifications.

Report for 2025/2026

It has been a busy year for Uke 3A. We have welcomed new members to fill the
gaps of those who have moved on. Once more we are full and have a waiting list
for people wishing to join the group.
A new system of admitting new members who are complete beginners has been
introduced. Beginners are asked to complete some basic online training
recommended by Frances before they can join the group. Frances keeps in
contact with them and offers any help required. Once this is completed the
Beginners may join the group as they have at least a knowledge of basic chords.

Ukulele group ready for playing

We have had a gig almost every month ranging from The Rammy in Moffat to various organisations throughout Carlisle area. We have been very pleased to be part of some celebrations including our own party to celebrate u3a anniversary as well as the Ramblers/ Walking group celebrations for their own anniversary.

We enjoyed our annual Christmas Buffet on our last meeting of 2025 and look forward to our summer lunch this summer.

We have bought two new amps, one mic stand , a mic and pencils and badges. The budget also covered the cost of the Christmas Buffet.

It is a pleasure to be part of the group that make up UKE 3A.
