Geology Event

If you are interested in and have a passion for Art and would like to deepen your knowledge and understanding of Art through the ages up to the present, this is the group for you.

The group is run on shared learning principles with each member contributing to the exploration of the work of artists and their contexts. We agree a topic area to be explored, for example the Art of Russia, and share out artists among the group. At each meeting, a few of us will talk about our choice for about 15 minutes showing examples of appropriate artworks. We limit photocopies to about 4 copies of 4 images for reasons of expense. We then have a discussion about what we have seen and found out. Periodically we also have a session where we present a particular personal favourite artwork or Artist to the group, which is very illuminating and enjoyable.

Do give us a try, we are very friendly!

Report for 2025/2026

We are a user-friendly bunch with a wide range of talent particularly in the world of Art.
Once a month we present and discuss on a range of either an individual artist or group of artists or school.
We also invite guest speakers, usually artists, to talk about their work in the Cumbria area.
Occasionally we travel out to visit Galleries or exhibitions.
Our Group continues to increase in number which is a positive although if this continues we may have to limit new joiners.
